Shorty Long is a four-piece
Austin string band with roots in the novelty jazz style of the 20th
century. Featuring two founding members of the Asylum Street Spankers
- Pops Bayless and Mysterious John - Shorty Long cites a zany list
of influences including Charlie Christian, Ukulele Ike, James Brown
AND the Misfits. Joining Pops and John are guitar/lap steel ace
J.D. Pendley and good ol' Crapstack Jones slappin' the big doghouse
bass. Here's a couple of choice lines from their bio: "Shorty
Long likes ukuleles, Western movies, the Simpsons and Tastykakes.
Shorty Long would like to meet your sister. Shorty Long cures depression.
Shorty Long is high in fiber and low in cholesterol." This

live as they hit the road for the first time ever in late September.
