Forrest Day

8 Piece Band - Live Hip Hop

Band Description

Forrest Day is a singer/songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up playing the saxophone and started playing in bands at 14. After years of Jazz and Reggae, and producing Hip-Hop beats, he began working on a solo project. Forrest Day writes songs that defy categorization, and with help from his horn-wielding friends, performs an interesting combination of hip- hop and indie-rock, with subtle elements of jazz and reggae. The sound is very eclectic, but would be categorized best as Hip-Hop/Indie-Rock, or Fusion Hip Hop. He started his 8-piece band in October of 2006 to support his self-titled E.P. The band is comprised of Forrest Day on Vocals and Alto Sax, Guitarist Terrell Liedstrand, Keyboardist Nick Wyner, Bari-Sax player Dave Eaton, Tenor-Sax player Dave Bullers, Bassist John Sankey, Drummer Jasper Skydecker, and Percussionist Travis Whalen. The band is powerfully unique yet familiar and radio friendly. With an 8 piece band, the music is powerful, and a thick wall of sound, gaining notoriety and loyal audiences in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. They have been playing clubs like Temple Bar (LA) The Independent (SF) Cafe du Nord (SF) Red Devil Lounge (SF) Boom Boom Room (SF) Elbo Room (SF) Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley, Metro (Oak) Blake’s on Telegraph, Time Out in Concord, Betty's Rock Bar (WC) Moe's Alley (SC) Monterey Live, Lava Lounge and many, many more, like a the 2007 Love Parade in S.F. This is a solid line up that has become much more than just a backing band to show case Forrest’s music. This is a fun, tight-knit group that lights up every stage it takes.
